Yellow Pages Series action heads to Stellenbosch

The Yellow Pages Series I track and field athletics moves to the picturesque setting of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape on Tuesday, 20 March as the athletes start gearing toward achieving new season bests with the ultimate goal of taking one step closer to achieving Olympic qualification.

The Yellow Pages Interprovincial Series I and II that took place in Germiston and Bellville respectively was won overall by Gauteng North who held off the challenge of Western Province to secure the honours.

There is no doubting that the season started on a high with the Interprovincial Series, which saw national records broken, and big things are expected during the Yellow Pages Series I event.

Stellenbosch will also provide the athletes with the opportunity to secure their stake in the Yellow Pages Pot of Gold worth R200 000 for those athletes who post Olympic A standard qualifying performances during the Yellow Pages sponsored-events on the ASA calendar between February and April this year.

“Yellow Pages is excited about the forthcoming week where will see the country’s best athletes compete in Stellenbosch and where we expect that the bar will be raised as they strive to achieve the results required to qualify for the Olympics,” said Zwelakhe Ndlovu, Yellow Pages Sponsorship Manager.

“We stand behind the athletes and wish them all the best ahead of this important event, may they strive for success, be determined and disciplined and give of their best,” he concluded.
Forthcoming events on the Yellow Pages calendar include Yellow Pages Series 2 (Saturday, 24th March, Potchefstroom), and the Yellow Pages SA Junior and Schools National Track and Field Championships (Friday, 29th March and Saturday, 30th March; Junior Championships end on Sunday, 1st April, in Germiston).

The Yellow Pages Interclub Championships take place on 5th April in Tshwane, and the Yellow Pages SA Senior Track and Field Championships and Combined Events will be held in Port Elizabeth on Friday, 13th April and Saturday, 14th April.

The curtain will finally come down on the 2012 Yellow Pages track and field season when the Yellow Pages Series 3 takes place in Tshwane on Friday, 20th April.
