Durban is set for a feast of Yellow Pages Series athletics mania

In the opening leg of the Yellow Pages Series held in Port Elizabeth last week, Robert Oosthuizen threw a distance of 82.96 metres in the javelin event, qualifying in the A category performance ahead of the Commonwealth Games to be held later this year in India.
With a blistering 5000 metres winning time of 13 min 25.51 secs, Tshamano Sithone earned the Yellow Pages ‘Athlete of the Meet’ (male) award while Lebo Phalula’s 5000 metres earned the award for best female performance at the event. The ‘Athlete of the Meet’ (male and female) was awarded with R15 000 each, compliments of the Yellow Pages
All eyes will again be on the Yellow Pages ‘Athlete of the Meet’ points scoreboard as the gladiators of track and field work their tallies towards the ultimate cash prize of R100 000 for those who come out tops at the end of the six-leg series.
Away from the stadium, Yellow Pages, in conjunction with athletics custodians,
Athletics SA, play an important role in inspiring the stars of tomorrow with Mokoena, LJ van Zyl and other top athletes having given of their time to provide motivational talks at schools. The athletics stars also put young talent through their paces at an athletics clinic.

“Durban continues to obtain hosting rights to a Yellow Pages Series event because of the superb support received from stakeholders and the public, and we are looking forward to once again bringing the magic of top quality track and field action to the city” Smith added.
Following the Yellow Pages Series leg in Durban, the action will head inland for the third event on the calendar, to be held in Potchefstroom on Thursday, March 4. Thereafter, the Yellow Pages Series events will be held at the University of Johannesburg (Wednesday, March 24), Stellenbosch (Tuesday, March 30) and Tshwane (Tuesday, April 6).
Yellow Pages is also the proud sponsor of the Yellow Pages SA Senior Track and Field Championships to be held in Durban from March 20-21, as well as the Yellow Pages Junior and Youth Championships, scheduled for the University of Johannesburg (April 10-11).
