The new site - at www.citysearch.yellowpages.co.za - is fresher and more dynamic, says Lionel Smith, General Manager: Marketing at Trudon, publishers and owners of Yellow Pages.
“The site was revamped with the aim of making it fun, easy and interesting for people wishing to get information on a variety of leisure activities, from planning a holiday to a night out on the town,” he says.
As part of the change, features such as restaurant guides and reviews, a holiday planner and information on cities that will be hosting the FIFA World Cup next year have been included.
More importantly, the new site is interactive, adds Smith. “Our ‘Say What’ feature allows visitors to set up blogs as well as read and send reviews of the restaurants, cities and other places of interest they have visited. They can also upload pictures and we have a link to Facebook so contributors can become site fans and share their experiences there.”
Smith said the sites lives up the Yellow Pages promise of being the premier source of local information.
“The emphasis is on providing both visitors to South Africa and locals with specific leisure information about cities they want to visit. Far from a ‘boring’ search platform, our site offers a living, dynamic forum where users can plan their leisure time and even make contact with people who live in the country,” says Smith.
Other features include:
• Infotainment guide – packed full of interesting articles including celebrity talk, technology info, news, as well a recipe and a wine of the week
• Editorial picks – guides about where to eat, drink
• Maps – perfect guides to anywhere you need to go
• Temperatures – so you know what clothes to pack wherever you're travelling in South Africa
• Cultural places of interest - including museums and national monuments
• Forthcoming events – to ensure you don't miss out if you're in the area
“We believe the revamped Citysearch site will be both useful and informative for anyone wanting to explore the many attractions offered by our beautiful country,” concludes Smith.
